I’ve been a daily newspaper reporter since 1985, at four newspapers on both sides of the country, most recently at The Seattle Times, where I have specialized in coverage of the environment, natural history and Native American tribes since 1997. I also have a rich relationship with the national magazine Atmos Earth, based in New York City, where the visionary editor Willow Defebaugh has invited me to dive deeply into our relationship with old growth forests, orca whales, the eternal lives of salmon, and more.
